FOOTBALL: Heapy returns to Didcot

Jamie Heapy has returned home – after sealing a move back to Didcot Town.
As club captain, Heapy led the Railwaymen to unprecedented success and silverware.
He lifted the FA Vase in 2005, the Hellenic Premier Division title in 2006, three Hellenic Challenge Cups, two Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy victories and also skippered the side to promotion into the Southern League Premier Division via the play-offs in 2009.
Heapy had made more than 720 appearances and scored over 30 goals, in a career spanning 16 years with the Railwaymen before transferring to Court Place Farm in October.
After signing the paperwork to seal a move back to the npower Loop Meadow Stadium, Heapy will return to the side for their clash against Thatcham Town at Waterside Park today.
Boss Dave Mudge was delighted to recapture Heapy, and admitted it was a big boost in his side’s bid to preserve their place in the Southern League South & West Division 1 table.
Mudge said: “I never wanted to lose Jamie in the first place.
“But I respected his desire to play at the highest level.”
“I told him the door was always open for him to return and I am delighted that he’s decided come back at what is a crucial time of the season.”
Banbury United striker Aaron Woodley has joined Southern League Premier Diviison rivals Oxford City until the end of the season.
He makes his City debut at Banbury on Monday!
